About Us

Hi, we're Fi and Dave and we want you to have a lovely holiday

We're lucky. We live in a very nice part of the world: it's just off a road called "The Lang Whang" (the A70), the long bootstrap of a road which rushes as fast as it can over the windswept moors between Edinburgh and the ancient market town of Lanark, skirting the Pentland Hills Regional Park as it goes.

Fail Dyke SmallBut you'll be pleased to hear that we're not all that windswept; in fact we're nestled amongst the trees on a small farm in the countryside outside Edinburgh. As we said, we think we're lucky, we've got wildlife, lovely peaceful countryside and we're within easy reach of everything that the ancient Festival City of Edinburgh has to offer, so we thought it would be churlish to keep it to ourselves. That's why we decided we'd offer our place up as a holiday destination to anybody that fancies it.

Pentland ViewWhen we set out to create a holiday destination at Belstane we had in mind the sort of holiday that we like: a relaxing time in the country, away from the hustle and bustle of modern life but with plenty of things to see and do.

Our Location

Your Cabin is located on tree-fringed farmland on the edge of the Pentland Hills. We're quite rural here but within easy reach of Edinburgh with all that it has to offer in terms of history and culture. Check our Things To Do page to see some of the things that you can see and do within easy reach of your holiday home.

Leyden Road

Being in a rural location is all very well but you'll probably want to sample a few new experiences while you're there. Although rural, the Belstane log cabin is situated only a few miles from the outer fringes of Edinburgh and there are bus and train services near at hand which go right into the heart of the Festival City within easy reach. Edinburgh is a major tourist destination for visitors from all corners of the world – with good reason – but there's a host of other activities in which to indulge other than culture. From the air, as you fly into Edinburgh airport, you can see so many bunkers and greens that you might be forgiven for thinking that the Lothians are just one big golf course and golf, inexpensive but top notch golf, is more freely available here than in any other country in the world.
